The Table Tip Club - Simpson Hill, Bayside, N.B.

Main Trailhead located at about 3154 Rte 127

Table Top is the summit of Simpson Hill (Elevation: 558 feet), which provides outstanding views of the St. Croix River, Devil's Head, Todd's Point, Oak Bay, St. Croix Island and the lower Waweig River. Approximately two-thirds of Simpson Hill is currently owned by the Province of New Brunswick and is contained within the Champlain Industrial Park. It is this area that we need to protect. The Table Top Club is made up of local and part time residents of the local communities who have hiked on Simpson Hill, enjoyed the view from Table Top, wish to continue to be able to do so, and support the proposal* to have Simpson Hill set aside as a nature preserve and for recreational use.

The Club intends to sponsor this proposal to the NB government with support from other co-sponsor groups that will represent much of the local community. Honorary membership is open to those who are unable to hike the hill but wish to see it preserved for these purposes. Associate membership is open to non-residents. The Club will have an executive, duly elected at an annual general meeting. The executive will provide periodic reports on usage, trail and other relevant conditions and proposals to the membership as may be required.

The Club has become a Trail Sponsor under the program of the NB Trails Council, Inc., and will comply with Mission Statement of that organization. Refer to http://www.sentiernbtrail.com/En/LocalTrailSponsors.html An extensive trail system, started in 1982, already exists on the hill. The executive will be responsible for maintaining these trails and any further developments so that their use enhances the mountain as a nature preserve for all its indigenous flora and fauna as well as for visitors and residents.

These "low use back country" trails** highlight some of the natural features, ledges and valleys that represent the diversity of the ecology of the mountain and provide areas where people can enjoy the views as well as the solitude of the wilderness. New trails will be developed as inspired or required.
